Hazard a guess
at ways we connect
in this world
of magic.
Tragic
yet gentle
believers deny
harsh cut
of pessimistic words
that endanger
thoughts,
as stranger,
absurd.
Magic unbelievable?
Once, even computers
were inconceivable…

I liked your poem which is expressing a recurring thought to me. This is well articulated. I was there when we went from not having ’em to a computer world. It’s still a mystery to many people my age and many think if they can’t understand “how” they work, they can’t use one. How silly–most of them know how to type but consider computers “evil”. I’ve been with this tool since its birth and it’s an extension of my mind and fingers..a tool nothing more or less.

You are so right Gay! I look at the sci-fi shows and movies and constantly listen to friends that think these things are impossible, but we would have said video chat was impossible years ago! My grandfather still refuses to use and ATM!

There is magic, mystery and miracles all about us, we just have to be open enough to believe, don’t we? 🙂

Really interesting piece. We’ve come to take quite a bit of “magic” for granted, haven’t we?

Pessimists about magic are stranger than the believers. True. I like how you wrote this, dialogue like, as if a debate might rage “in this world of magic.” But no, this one is for Magic, and science can just sit down!

Truly said! It’s just difficult to predict. Only something magical works. Even then it’s hard to explain.

So much of what we have today 100 years ago would have been thought magic. Who knows what magic the future will bring?

True Mary! Many people died because people thought it was magic as well. Now, we look forward to new inventions like flying cars!

My partner and I talk about this often…I remember when I was younger watching Star Trek and the ‘magic’ slidding doors and now they are common place. Nicely done.

Thank you KB. I look at what we used to watch as children. We went from seeing the sounds on the original batman series, to the Dark Knight! what a difference!

Seriously people need to think about one syfy movie coming true and that is “Terminator”. Scientists are working very hard to build a robot with a mind and if you look around then one might see how advanced we are towards that goal. Look at what a little tiny cell phone can do. We might be ten years to 100 years before it comes true but I think we are closer to 15 to 20 years from seeing a computer that can think for itself. But I do have to say that magic is wonderful to watch but it is true that once you find out the tricks then it is as if the magic died.
Thanks for working this weeks Theme Thursday Connections into so many prompts, and thank you for playing.
God bless.
