Anything But Ordinary…

Anything But Ordinary by Surragaki on Deviantart.com

paint me a picture

draw on the canvas of my life

swirl tears of black

from blue eyes

having  seen darkness

watched souls sweat dirges of heartache

we call them “Blues”

stain my cheeks with rainbows

a hint of hidden heritage

orange for countless sunrises and sunsets

hidden behind clouds, an outcast

not a green thumb, green nails

save Mother Earth!

blonde dye refutes stereotype of stupidity

go ahead!

capture my character in best light

intellectual, individual, extra-ordinary

an artist!

you know, they say artists

are the martyrs of a rebel cause

born different

bent on nonconformity

we die for our dreams

in the oiled machine

of adulthood and responsibility

rules in uniformed business attire

that loses us on crowded streets

of sameness

parallel lines and neutral tones

that scream “this is the only way”

on second thought…

paint me a picture

something different

outline my dreams

in society’s form of acceptable

careful

make sure to stay within the confines

I mean… lines.. of archetype

paint me

“normal”

a hint of hidden heritage…intriguing..a bit of mystery in this…great use of color throughout to add to your paint theme…artists are the rebels…stretching the way we see the world…i dont want to be on crowded streets of sameness…

of adulthood and responsibility… yes…i think artists are and if we have no chance to express what is in us, we die on this crowded roads of conformity…so we write on and paint on..and rage on…smiles

  4. I love the lines in this and I recognize the struggle. It aches, it leads, it progresses, and leaves me hoping the artist never gives in completely to the idea of “normal.” The most beautiful things in life and in art often come from those who demanded they not be kept in the lines. Absolutely gorgeous writing.

    1. Children are taught to dream and be whomever they wish to be, but once school starts, they begin with uniforms, proper etiquette, and business attire. Trained to do something dependable and not do anything that would rock the boat so to speak. The artists are the ones that continue being a little different in spite of the norm 🙂 Thank you for stopping by!
